Kathy Higgins

President

Since 2004, Kathy has served as president of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation where she has led unprecedented growth and the strategic investment of more than $32 million into North Carolina communities.

Kathy has helped direct the BCBSNC Foundation since its founding in 2000, when the independent, private, charitable foundation was established with a mission dedicated to improving the health and well-being of North Carolinians.

More about Kathy:

Kathy has served BCBSNC for the past 20 years. Aside from leading the Foundation, she is Vice President of Community Relations, where she oversees all corporate-based philanthropic initiatives including corporate community investments and outreach programs; community leadership; management and employee community involvement; several fundraising campaigns; and major community initiatives.

Additionally, in 2004, Kathy traveled to New Zealand and Australia to study health care innovation and policy as an Eisenhower Fellow, and was selected as a Fulbright Senior Scholar.

When not at her desk:

Kathy has served on a number of boards of directors and committees, among them: Be Active North Carolina, 2 Those Who Care, the NC Healthy Start Foundation, the Jimmy V Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic, the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Health, and the Kids ‘N Community Foundation of the Carolina Hurricanes. She also co-chaired the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open Golf Championship, and served on the Executive Council of the 1996 and 2001 championships.

Kathy is also an avid walker and passionate Philadelphia Eagles fan.
