NONPROFIT: BUSINESS WITH A GREATER PURPOSE
Featuring Mecklenburg Ministries
2005 Healthy Community Institute Attendee
Charlotte, NC
Maria Hanlin has two callings in life, one to lead her church and the other to run the nonprofit, Mecklenburg Ministries. While seminary training provided Hanlin guidance for leading her church, she knew nothing about running a nonprofit when she took the helm.
To learn the essentials of running a successful organization, she turned to the Healthy Community Institute (HCI). Today, Hanlin and Mecklenburg Ministries are a leading voice in facilitating community-building efforts among diverse groups in the city of Charlotte.
HCI is aimed at helping North Carolina's vibrant nonprofit community. The two-day training program is offered free of charge and is designed for board and staff members. Since its inception, more than 780 nonprofits have benefitted from the training.
