Community Impact through Nonprofit Excellence:

Strengthening the organizational capacity of the nonprofit organizations in North Carolina.

Nonprofit organizations are critical to the health of our communities, our people and our state. Our Community Impact through Nonprofit Excellence focus area is unique in that it is a combination of grantmaking, tools and resources for nonprofits focused on access to care, physical activity and nutrition. It houses Foundation Signature programs including Healthy Community Institute and 5 Good Ideas. Our intent is to provide a platform to help nonprofits create long-term financial stability, communicate more effectively, collaborate with other organizations and have a greater impact on North Carolina.

Grants:

We are committed to investing in organizations with the ability to impact the health of North Carolinians.

Healthy Community Institute:

Our unique two-day board and staff program focused on organizational change has helped more than 975 nonprofit organizations throughout North Carolina strengthen their organizational capacity.

"Staff and board members from our agency had two days of uninterrupted training and support to look closely at our board development, fundraising and strategic planning efforts. The consultants understood our mission and worked personally with us to discuss issues facing our organization. And after the event, we still have all of the online resources so that we don't have to reinvent the wheel. I highly recommend HCI for any nonprofit agency!"   - Testimonial from Steven R. Strom, M.Ed., MBA, Executive Director, The Arc of Wake County and 2011 HCI Participant
