Hispanics in Philanthropy
Grantee:
Project:
Support capacity building and culturally specific training for nonprofit organizations that serve Latinos in North Carolina.
Impact:
An initial three-year investment in 2006 to the North Carolina Funders Collaborative for Strong Latino Communities, a statewide home for the national association Hispanics in Philanthropy, resulted in more than $3 million in funding targeting the Latino community in North Carolina. Forty-seven Latino-serving nonprofits received support to improve operational efficiencies and their capacity to serve clients. Over the last two years, grantees reported increases in revenue by 88 percent and an increase in clients served by more than 50 percent. BCBSNC Foundation has chosen to reinvest $150,000 over three years, joining nearly 15 other funders to expand and increase the capacity of Hispanic agencies across the state.
